چکیده

This paper present a study of the relationship between subglottal pressure (SGP) and intensity of the speech signal in the case of sustained French oral vowels with controlled pitch. The corpus is based on a male and a female subjects, the SGP is measured directly by tracheal puncture. The results show that the relationship between intensity and subglottal pressure varies when one considers the vowel or the pitch parameter. This experiment is useful in the framework of speech production model design. These preliminary results emphasize the need to investigate thoroughly the relationship between all the parameters involved and to do so on abundant and accurate experimental data.

Subglottal pressure and final lowering in English

Quantitative models of intonation in a variety of languages typically specify a long-range downtrend across the sentence that provides a declining backdrop for the steeper rises and falls of more local pitch events such as accents and word tones. Several studies of this “declination” in English and several other languages have isolated a component of somewhat steeper decline that covers only th...

Estimating Subglottal Pressure From Neck-Surface Acceleration During Normal Voice Production.

Purpose The purpose of this study was to evaluate the potential for estimating subglottal air pressure using a neck-surface accelerometer and to compare the accuracy of predicting subglottal air pressure relative to predicting acoustic sound pressure level (SPL). Method Indirect estimates of subglottal pressure (Psg') were obtained from 10 vocally healthy speakers during loud-to-soft repetiti...

Data on subglottal pressure and SPL at varied vocal loudness and pitch in 8- to 11-year-old children.

Phonation threshold pressure has been defined as the minimum subglottal pressure to generate phonation. Previous research has indicated that children may habitually employ higher subglottal pressures than adults. In the present investigation sound pressure level (SPL) and subglottal pressures at different pitch levels were measured at and above phonation threshold in nine children. Phonation th...

Breathing behavior during singing

Together with Curt von Euler and the late Rolf Leanderson, the author has carried out a series of investigations of the breathing behavior during the last decade. This article presents the picture of phonatoy breathing in singing that has emerged from this research. Subglottal pressure is determined by muscular forces, elasticity forces, and gravitation. The phonatoy function of the breathing a...

How constant is subglottal pressure in singing?

According to previous investigations by Leanderson, Sundberg, & von Euler, subglottal pressure in singing is adapted to pitch and loudness. Thus, wide musical intervals and great, sudden changes of loudness were found to be associated with substantial and precise pressure changes. In this study, we will focus on the significance to subglottal pressure of smaller, but equally important effects, ...
